Derailment: Mumbai-Howrah train traffic disrupted

Rail traffic on the Mumbai-Howrah route was disrupted following derailment of a goods wagons in Nagpur division of South East Central Railway, official sources said.

Ten wagons of a rice-laden goods train from Gondia to Guwahati derailed between Bortalao and Darekasa section of Nagpur division on Monday night.

Four wagons of the goods train jumped the track and fell on another line, disrupting train traffic on both sides.

Trains originating from Howrah and bound towards Mumbai were diverted via Jabalpur, Itarsi and Bhusaval.

Similarly train going towards Howrah were diverted via Nagpur, Itarsi, Jabalpur and onwards, a division spokesman said.

Efforts are on to restore at least one line for resuming the train traffic.
