One more Orissa police personnel, who was injured in the February 15 Naxal attack in Nayagarh, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, taking the total toll to 16.

The security forces nabbed two ultras after intensifying combing operation on the sixth day today, flushing out the Naxals hiding in various jungles in the borders of Kandhmal and Ganjam, after the mayhem.

Sources said that Mahipur outpost constable Chintamani Sahu, who was admitted along with seven others at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, succumbed to the injuries on Wednesday night, while two more constables treated at the Nayagarh Hospital were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital as their condition worsened.

The security personnel recovered a 9 mm pistol, looted from the Nayagarh District armoury, from the arrested Naxals.

During interrogation, the two ultras were identified as Reena alias Manjulata Muduli and Pratap Kambata. The police said Reena was inducted to the Naxal cadre six years ago and was an active member of Sambalpur-Deogarh committee. She was also involved in as many as ten murders and the looting of the Deogarh armoury.
