With the likelihood of the opposition Pakistan People's Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz sweeping Monday's parliamentary polls, President Pervez Musharraf [Images] said that he was committed to the policy of political reconciliation and expressed his willingness to work with everyone.

After casting his vote along with wife Sehba and mother Zarin at a polling station in the garrison city of Rawalpindi near Islamabad, Musharraf told reporters, "We would like to work with everyone."

His comments came in the backdrop of recent opinion polls predicting that the opposition PPP and PML-N would sweep the elections with the PML-Q, which backs Musharraf, trailing far behind.

Musharraf said the winner of today's polls would form the government. "I remain committed to the policy of political reconciliation in the larger interest of the country," he said.

There was tight security when Musharraf arrived at the polling station in a school. He shook hands with the poll officials and other staff and stayed at the station for some time.
