Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images], who announced a number of sops during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh -- much to China's displeasure, gave another shock to Chinese authorities by announcing the setting up of an institute of folk medicine in the state.

"The Union cabinet has approved a proposal for the establishment of North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, at a cost of Rs 32.88 crore as an autonomous institute under the Department of Ayush," Priyaranjan Das Munshi told the media persons in New Delhi on Thursday.

This, according to the officials, will facilitate systematic and comprehensive documentation, presentation and validation of folk medicine tradition in the North Eastern region.
