A day after the country's home minister Shivraj Patil [Images] resigned, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil resigned from the state Cabinet, saying that "he went by his conscience". "I have gone by my conscience and I have decided to put in my papers," Patil told the Press Trust of India. "I pondered over the issue the whole night yesterday. Finally, I have decided to quit as per my conscience," Patil said. WHAT SHARAD PAWAR [Images] SAYS Earlier, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to accept the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who has resigned in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks. "I have told the Chief Minister to accept the resignation of Patil," Pawar said. The NCP chief and Agriculture Minister said Patil was feeling "uneasy" since the terror strikes and he had expressed his desire to step down three days ago.
