Alerted by intelligence reports over a possible spillover of terrorist activities into Himachal Pradesh [Images], army has mounted a strict vigil along Chamba district and certain areas along the Jammu and Kashmir-HP border.

Defence spokesman Lieutenant Colonel SD Goswami said, "There are intelligence reports that terrorists are planning to enter Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh."

He told PTI that intelligence intercepts indicated that terrorists were under pressure due to counter insurgency operations by the army in neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir [Images].

Goswami said that army has stepped up vigilance along the roads and interiors of Chamba district alongwith other security forces deployed in the area and is also taking measures to pre-empt possible terrorist movement in Himachal territory.
