The arrest of six suspected militants from the Peoples United Liberation Front in Karnataka left everyone dumb founded.

Although initially it was suspected that they could have been in Karnataka to carry out an attack along with another outfit, the Karnataka police have now cleared that doubt and said that there was no danger to Karnataka from this outfit.

During the course of investigation conducted on the six persons, it was found that the men had no intention of carrying out an any attack in the state.

An investigating officer in this case told rediff.com that the six men had been involved in several cases of extortion and abduction in Manipur.

However, the PULF in Manipur did not approve of their actions and threw them out of the outfit.

The Karnataka police say that they had left Manipur for Mysore in Karnataka in order to chalk out a plan to hit back at their parent organization, the PULF.

The police also say that these men were backed by a Bangladeshi outfit and were chalking out a plan in Karnataka. They had chosen Karnataka as it is considered as a safe hideout for them.

Investigating officials also say that the idea was to chalk out a plan in Karnataka and then return to Manipur and hit back at the PULF.

However, the Manipur police received a tip-off that these men had escaped into Karnataka and with the help of the local police tracked them down.

The Manipur police say that these men were wanted in several charges of extortion and abduction.

The police say that these men would be in Karnataka for a few more days as they intend to find out who their contact man in the state was.

They would also probe the angle regarding the Bangladeshi outfit they are being backed by.

Meanwhile, the police have picked up two more persons for questioning in connection with the same case.

They are the wife and brother-in-law of Mohammed Nasir Khan. The police expect to get more clues from the duo regarding the case.
