Ganga: Millions spent yet polluted

April 22, 2008
Millions are being spent to preserve the sacred river Ganges, but pollution levels in the river have reached an alarming level.

The Ganges, which finds a mention in mythological and historical contexts, is in a pitiable condition, as the dissolved oxygen has dropped to alarmingly low levels.

The banks of the river present an ironical picture where in on one side religious activities take place and on the other heaps of garbage lie unattended.
