An alleged drug dealer Placido Carvalho arrested in connection with the death of British teenager Scarlette Eden Keeling was granted bail on Friday by a Panaji court.

Carvalho was arrested along with Samson D'Souza for drugging, raping and leaving Scarlette to die on Goa's [Images] popular Anjuna beach on February 18.

President of children's court Desmond D'costa released Carvalho on a surety of Rs 25,000 and asked him to surrender his passport before the state police within seven days.

While Samson is the main accused in Scarlette's death, Placido was charged for conspiring with him in the offence.

The police had booked Placido under Section 302, 328 and 327 of the Indian Penal Code read with Section 32 and also under Goa Children's Act as Scarlette was a minor.

Scarlette's bruised body was found on Anjuna beach sparking off a huge debate on the safety of tourists in Goa.

Fiona Mackeown, Scarlette's mother had launched a campaign seeking to expose a cover up in her daughter's death.

Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat who had intervened in the matter had ordered for the second autopsy in this case, which recommended that the death be investigated as murder.
