A lady doctor who was found unconscious in a New Delhi hospital on Monday and was allegedly gang-raped is out of danger, the Delhi police said.

Doctors, however, said it is not fit to make a statement about the condition of the patient.

Reports said she was gang-raped in the hospital.

"Our investigation so far shows that there has been an attempt to rape and then an attempt to murder her," Rajan Bhagat, Delhi police PRO, said.

"We have set up a medical board. The board would give its report and when she is fit and fine a team of investigators would meet her and record her statement," he said.

He refused to confirm or deny the claim of the medical superintendent of the hospital that it was the sister and brother-in-law of the doctor who had rushed her unconscious to hospital.

"But there were marks on her body which indicated that at attempt was made to kill her and even outrage her modesty," a doctor working at the ESI Hospital told newsmen.
