BJP's ex-president Jana Krishnamurthy is dead

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former union law minister Jana Krishnamurthy died at a hospital in Chennai after a prolonged illness. He was 79.

The BJP leader is survived by wife, two sons and three daughters. Krishnamurthy, who was the BJP national president between 2001 and 2002, underwent  treatment for kidney failure for two months.

Senior party leader L K Advani visited the hospital and enquired about his health during his visit to Tamil Nadu last week, party sources said.

The last rites will take place tomorrow. BJP president Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the funeral, the sources added.
