Authorities said it was sheer luck and pilot's presence of mind that saved the JetLite aircraft.

The pilot managed to control the plane on the runway despite the snag in the landing gear. All the passengers were immediately evacuated from the aircraft.

The runway had to be closed immediately after the snag was detected.
