Two die after sluice valve bursts in Idukki

At least three persons were killed and two others went missing after a penstock on a huge pipe connecting Panniyar power house to the Ponmudi dam burst in Idukki on Monday. The incident happened at 5pm.

 

The victims were employees of the Kerala [Images] state electricity board.  Amid panic, the bodies were found inside the power house, while two others who went for repair work were found missing. The police said over 10 houses had been washed away by the torrent.
