J&K: Bomb blast ahead of Sonia's visit

A powerful improvised explosive device went off in Jammu and Kashmir [Images] capital Srinagar [Images] on Monday, hours before United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi [Images] was scheduled to arrive in the state.

Police said four Central Reserve Police Force women personnel were injured in the explosion that damaged the vehicle they were traveling in.

The injured are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

Security has been tightened across the state in view of Sonia's visit. The Congress president is scheduled to address a rally on women's empowerment at Srinagar.
