A young woman said to be a follower of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect immolated herself at her house in a village near Bathinda on Friday, allegedly as she was upset due to the Dera-Sikh row.

Prabhjit Kaur, 22, of Poohli village in Bathinda district was admitted to the local civil hospital and was then referred to DMC Ludiana but died on her way there, police said.

They said her father Gurdial Singh claimed the girl was upset over the Dera-Sikh row for quite some time as the entire family were followers of the Sirsa-based Dera.
