Former Uttar Pradesh minister and Samajwadi Party legislator Amarmani Tripathi will appeal in the high court against the special court decision convicting him and his wife in poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case, his lawyer said in Lucknow on Wednesday.

"We will appeal in the high court against the decision," Vijay Vikram, lawyer of Amarmani, said.

Asked about the role of CBI in the case, he said that he was not questioning the credibility of the government agency, but was not satisfied with its findings against Amarmani and his wife Madhumani.

The District and Sessions court in Dehradun on Wednesday sentenced Amarmani and his wife Madhumani to life imprisonment in the poetess' murder case.

Two other accused, Rohit Chaturvedi and Santosh Roy, also got life terms while another accused in the case Prakash Pandey was acquitted.

Madhumita was murdered in Lucknow in May 2003, at her residence at Paper Mill Colony in Mahanagar police cricle area in Lucknow.
