A day after an intruder entered her house and almost reached her room, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa on Wednesday said that she faced a threat to her life and would approach the judiciary to seek adequate protection.

She said her party will lodge a complaint with the President, prime minister and Union home minister about the security lapse and would move the court seeking protection.

Terming the incident as a sinister occurrence, Jayalalithaa said the matter could not be taken lightly in the wake of information she had received recently.

"I have well wishers at all levels. Through them, I came to know that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had recently advised his son and heir apparent M K Stalin to maintain and nurture the present alliance till the next Assembly elections," she said.

"If by any chance, you allow her (Jayalalithaa) to come back to power, you may have to suffer, Karunanidhi had told his son. To this, Stalin replied that it will happen only if she is alive at the time of next elections," she claimed.

Asked whether the break-in at her residence had any links with Karunanidhi and Stalin, she said "I leave it to you to draw your inference."

On Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy's statement that the intruder was an AIADMK sympathiser who trespassed on her house to seek employment, Jayalalithaa said that was a grave mistake. The DMK government was spreading lies to divert people's attention, she alleged.

"It was due to God's grace that I escaped. Will anyone seeking a job come straight to the first floor of my house? How did the police personnel posted on security duty allow him to enter?" she asked
