In yet another instance of a mob taking the law into its own hands, two kidnappers of a businessman's son were beaten to death by angry residents at Mahnagani village in Bihar's West Champaran district on Sunday.

District Superintendent of Police Bachhu Singh Meena said that the incident took place when two persons were fleeing after kidnapping Kanchan Kumar, 15-year-old son of jeweller Brigesh Kumar. However, angry villagers chased the duo and overpowered them.

The villagers beat up the youths so badly that both of them died on the spot. The mob also burnt the motorcycle on which the duo was fleeing.

The victims are yet to be identified but locals said that they belonged to Kathia Mathia village in the district.

The incident comes close on the heels of the lynching of two persons in Patna on suspicion of being robbers on September 21 and the slaying of 10 suspected thieves in Vaishali district two days later.
