Describing the unrest in Myanmar as its internal affair, army chief General Deepak Kapoor on Monday aid the Indian Army was in favour of maintaining "close relationship" with armed forces of the neighbouring country.

Asked to comment on happenings in Myanmar, the new army chief said Indian armed forces had good relations with the armed forces of that country and "we are for maintaining these close relationships".

The Myanmar junta has clampdown on pro-democracy demonstrators in the country since last week, killing at least 13 people and jailing hundreds, sparking global outrage.
