Yet another woman has committed suicide in the Kashmir valley despite a fatwa by Muslim ulema against taking such an extreme step.

Official sources said a woman, wife of Nisar Ahmad, consumed poison at her home in Bandipora. She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The trend of committing suicide in Kashmir, particularly by women, is on the rise despite a fatwa by the ulema declaring it 'unIslamic' and against the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

On an average, one woman commits suicide everyday in the Kashmir Valley.
