Tremors rock parts of Maharashtra

Parts of Konkan region in Maharashtra on Saturday experienced tremors measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale followed by two aftershocks of mild intensity, according to the MET office in Pune.

There were no reports of damage to life or property following the tremor which had its epicenter in the Koyna dam region in Satara district.

According to Satara police, the quakes did not cause any damage.

Meanwhile, traffic on the Konkan Railway, which stopped movement of trains as a precaution immediately after the tremors, resumed after some time, a KR spokesperson said.

Five passenger trains including 2618 Mangla Express, Madhu Sagar, Mandvi and Jan Shatabdi express, were running late after traffic was suspended on the route.
