"Don't do anything which will make me perform tandava nritya," Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said on Wednesday.

The speaker's remark came during a discussion on the Nandigram issue when Leader of the Opposition L K Advani sought to emphasise that the House was keen to know the satya (truth).

"Satya [Images] is also Shiva and you have to cross the Nandi (bull) to get to Shiva. And we have Somnath here," Advani said in a lighter vein.

Some members were heard remarking that Advani was well-acquainted with another Somnath, an obvious reference to the Rath Yatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya.

The leader of opposition requested the Speaker not to interrupt him, but Chatterjee said it was his job to ensure that members do not speak unnecessarily.
