November 15, 2007 19:25 IST

The Parliament will have an extended three-day weekend break till November 18 for observing Chhat pooja, a major festival for the people of Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha, said BJP Parliamentary party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotras.

He added that Chhat pooja was an important event not just in Bihar and Jharkhand but other places as well and his party supported the break for observing fast and other entailing rituals.
