Become disciplined and responsible citizens: President tells children

President Pratibha Patil greets the children at the Rashtrapati BhavanCalling upon the families of the weaker sections of society to educate their children for a brighter future of the country, President Pratibha Patil [Images] on Wednesday exhorted the younger ones also to mould their personality in such a way so that they become disciplined and responsible citizens in the future.

Addressing the children, who visited the President House on the occasion of Children's Day, Patil also laid emphasis on the important role that a mother can play in a family to raise awareness among children.

The President touched upon the issues of corruption and urged the youth to discuss among themselves as well as raise awareness through street plays about the scourge. The message should go from children to adults that the younger generation is against corruption, she added.

Walking down memory lane, the President also recounted some incidents from her childhood.

Meanwhile, an estimated 100 children, drawn from the underprivileged sections of society, participated in various activities including a quiz, painting exhibition and a short play, at the Parliament on the occasion of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday.
