Violence was reported for the sixth successive day on Sunday in Nandigram as Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee managed to reach Tamluk in East Midnapore district of West Bengal on a motorcycle to visit the injured in hospital.

Communist Party of India-Marxist supporters allegedly fired and threw bombs at Tekhali Bridge and Mahespur, eye witnesses and local Yuva [Images] Congress leader Milon Pradhan claimed.

In Kolkata, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia, however, said no major incident was reported.

The Trinamool Congress supremo, who announced her resignation fromĀ Parliament membership, went on a 'dharna' after leading a procession in Nandigram following a visit to the injured in hospital.

Banerjee, whose convoy was obstructed by CPI-M cadres at Kelomal, between Panskura and Tamluk, rode pillion on the motorbike of a party supporter to reach the hospital.

Banerjee said, "I want to go to Nandigram, I have communicated this to Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil."

Mamata said she wanted to provide relief to those affected in Nandigram. The Trinamool Congress chief went on a dharna after being unable to meet Superintendent of Police S Panda.
