In yet another incident of fratricide, an army trooper shot and killed two of his senior colleagues inside a camp at Bhalara village in the hilly Doda district on Saturday.

A defence spokesman in Jammu said Vivek Sharma, a rifleman, fired indiscriminately at two of his senior colleagues, both of whom died instantaneously inside the camp.

"Junior commissioned officer, Shiju Alex and non-commissioned officer, Brij Bihari died on the spot. The trooper was arrested and a court of inquiry ordered into this unfortunate incident," he said.

The shooting inside the camp triggered panic and consternation as senior officers and colleagues rushed to overpower the berserk trooper.

Incidents of fratricidal shootouts and suicides among the deployed troops in the state have been posing serious problems for the top brass of army and paramilitary forces, who have employed the services of counselors and increased entertainment avenues for the security forces.
