A Patna local court has granted bail to the ruling Janata Dal (U) legislator Anant Singh and six others in connection with a case of attack on journalists last week. Singh is likely to be released either on Wednesday or Thursday.

Official sources said the court granted bail after hearing the bail petition of Singh and others.

NDTV reporter Prakash Singh and cameramen Habib Ali and ANI cameraman Ajay Kumar were thrashed by Anant Singh and his henchmen, when they sought his comments on alleged rape of Reshma Khatoon  and her murder, in which the involvement of the MLA, his builder-friend Mukesh Singh and bodyguard Bipin Singh was suspected.

Anant Singh was arrested five hours after the incident and shifted to Beur jail on November 1.

Anant Singh, a JD(U) MLA from Mokama and close aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, already has 21 criminal cases pending against him.
