A teenage boy, who was admitted to a hospital with serious injuries after being allegedly beaten by a teacher a fortnight ago, died in a New Delhi hospital on Tuesday.

Fourteen-year-old Ajay Kumar, a student of Std VIII at Sarvodaya Vidyalya in Vinod Nagar, was allegedly beaten by his teacher Shyam Lal Rathuria on October 23 for forging his parents' signature, a senior police officer said.

Kumar fell on the ground after he was beaten and suffered serious head injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 11 am on Tuesday.

A case was registered at Kalyanpuri police station against Rathuria under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code
