Bihar Police on Monday arrested builder Mukesh Singh, one of the main accused along with ruling Janata Dal-United legislator Anant Singh in last week's attack on journalists.

In a related development, the legislator's private bodyguard Bipin Singh surrendered in the court of chief judicial magistrate Raghavendra Singh, who remanded him to judicial custody till November 13.

Singh was arrested from the state capital Patna, Senior Superintendent of Police Kundan Krishnan told PTI.

Asked whether the builder will be produced before a court on Monday, the officer replied in the negative, saying he needed to be questioned about a host of issues related to the assault on journalists and alleged rape and murder of Reshma Khatoon.

NDTV reporter Prakash Singh and camera persons Habib Ali and Ajay Kumar were confined and brutally thrashed by Anant and his cohorts when they had sought his comments on the allegation of rape of Reshma and her murder in which the involvement of the MLA, Mukesh and Bipin was suspected.

Anant Singh was arrested hours after the incident and shifted to Beur jail.
