Swami Agnivesh, who led a four-member delegation to Sirsa to persuade Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh to apologise for having dressed like Sikh guru Gobind Singh during the baptising ceremony of his disciples, has expressed hope that the decision of Akal Takht will be historic and that after this, no one would dare play with symbols of other religions.

Agnivesh arrived in Amritsar on Monday night along with Maulana Zamil Ahmed Ilyasi and Father Dominic Imanuel and went to meet Gaini Joginder Singh Vedanti, Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib and other four head priests of other four takhts, to give them a signed copy of the apology tendered on behalf of Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh by his advocate and vice president of the Dera.

He asked the five Jathedars to be magnanimous and accept the apology in the interest of the nation and humanity at large.

'The kind of reception that we got here was much better than what we got at the

Dera,' Agnivesh told media person after the meeting.

Asked why the Jathedars had decided to hold back the decision till Wednesday, Agnivesh said they possibly wanted to carry larger number of Sikh organisations with them. He also pointed out how images of Hindu Gods had appeared on the shoes in various parts of the world and how dirty sketches of Prophet Mohammad and Hindu Gods were made by known painters.

"I hope this too would come to an end now," he said.

Agnivesh said he would wait in Amritsar till the Jathedars give their verdict in the case.
