The death toll in Friday's bomb blast at Mecca Masjid and the subsequent police firing has been officially put at 16.
While 11 people died in the explosion inside the mosque during Friday prayers, five persons were killed in the police firing in the old city soon after the blast, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said.
As many as 61 people were injured in the blast, he said.
Earlier, there was confusion over the number of persons killed in police firing at Shah-Ali-Banda, about a kilometer from the blast site, to quell the rampaging mob.
The relief package announced by the government, including Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia, a house and a government job to each bereaved family, would apply to victims of the blast and police firing, the chief minister said.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister's Office had last night announced Rs 1 lakh ex-gratia to each bereaved family.
