An easy calm prevailed at the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters at Sirsa on Friday in the wake of tension arising out of the stand off between the followers of the religious sect and various Sikh organisations.

Paramilitary forces conducted a flag march in the town to instill confidence among the people in the wake of the tension over the past four days.

Security personnel have also set up check points to stop movement of undesirable elements towards the Dera as the inmates had alleged that the Sikhs might attack the complex to get it vacated.

A large number of people were stated to be inside the Dera and continuing with normal activities. Examinations were also being held in the Dera Sacha Sauda School, official sources said.

Markets, schools, colleges and offices were open in the district headquarters town where security personnel had been deployed in strength to ensure peace and law and order.

All vehicles coming from Punjab through the interstate border at Dabwali were being checked. Though individuals were being allowed to pass through the interstate border, movement of people in groups was not being allowed as the police of the two states have been deployed in strength.
