The Ministry of External Affairs has clarified that no date was fixed for the trip of United States Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns to visit India.

When asked about media reports that said Burns had cancelled his scheduled visit to India, the ministry clarified, "No particular date had yet been finalised. We are in the process of exchanging suggestions and examining them. We will let you know when a visit is scheduled," Navtej Sarna, official spokesperson of ministry of external affairs said.

Burns is expected to hold talks with the secretary external affairs Shiv Shankar Menon on the civil nuclear deal signed between President George Bush and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2005.

The US has been pressing for early signing of the agreement 123 by India but India wants its concerns to be addressed before it can sign the agreement.
