SC to pronounce verdict on CBI probe into fake encounters May 17, 2007 00:22 IST
The Supreme Court will pronounce its judgement on Thursday on the demand for a CBI investigation into the fake encounter killing of alleged extortionist Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi. A bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and P K Balasubramanyan had reserved the order on Tuesday after hearing various arguments supporting and opposing the demand. While the Centre and Sohrabuddin's brother Rubbabuddin Sheikh had sought a CBI probe, the Gujarat government has strongly opposed the same.
