Gujarat CID has issued summons to another police officer in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, particularly relating to the killing of his wife Kausar Bi.

Without naming the official, who is under scrutiny of the Gujarat CID (Crime) that is probing the case, a police source said that summons has already been issued to him.

But he has been evading a response, the source said.

"The role of the police officer is under scrunity with regards to Kausar Bi's death. Summons were issued to him but he has not responded. However, his name and specific role cannot be revealed at this stage," the source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

The concerned official is known to have worked with one of the arrested senior IPS officers, D G Vanzara, when he was heading the Ahmedabad Crime Branch and is reported to be close to him.

Incidentally, the fake encounter took place when Vanzara was heading the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad, after being promoted as an IPS officer and transferred from Crime Branch, and the official under scanner was not working with him at that time.

The official has also gone on a 'long leave' and his family members said he was not contactable.
