The hearing in Pramod Mahajan murder trial was adjourned to April 3 by the sessions court in Mumbai on Friday as key prosecution witness Rekha Mahajan could not be present in the court due to her mother's illness.

The defence was set to cross-examine Rekha, the late Bharatiya Janata Party leader's wife, but she had gone to Ambejogai in Maharashtra's Beed district to see her ailing mother, the court was informed as the proceedings began in the morning.

Rekha, in her examination by the prosecution last week, has said that she saw the accused Pravin Mahajan firing at his elder brother Pramod on the morning of April 22, 2006.
