The Patna High Court has issued a notice on Thursday to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife former chief minister Rabri Devi in connection with the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.

The court issued notice during hearing the case challenging their acquittal in DA case by the state government.

Official sources in the court told rediff.com that court asked both Lalu-Rabri to submit their reply to the court within two weeks in regard to the notice issued by the court.

The court had adjourned the hearing on Wednesday.

The state government had challenged the acquittal of the Lalu-Rabri couple in the case by Special CBI Judge Muni Lal Paswan on December 18, 2006.

In its petition, the state government had maintained that the lower court was not under obligation to pass the order on the basis of the findings of the appellate tribunal of the income tax.

The petitioner had also alleged that the lower court had overlooked the evidence brought against Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi by the prosecution during the trial in the case before the special court.
