The Jammu and Kashmir government has reinstated Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, one of the senior most IAS officers in the state.

Khanday was placed under suspension following his alleged involvement in the sex scandal that rocked the Kashmir Valley last year.

The CBI arrested Khanday, an IAS officer of 1987 batch, last June after his name surfaced during the investigation.

He was financial commissioner planning when the state government placed him under suspension.

Khanday was reinstated during a cabinet meeting chaired by state chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in Jammu Sunday.

He has now been posted as chairman bureau of public enterprises.
