A man, claiming to be suffering from AIDS and accusing doctors of hiding his status to deny him treatment, allegedly set ablaze his medical counsellor at local Medical College Hospital on Tuesday, police said.

Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, a resident of Sidhi, poured kerosene on counsellor Sanjay Shrivastava and set him afire after the latter denied that he suffered from AIDS, Additional Superintendent of Police, Manohar Verma told PTI.

Jaiswal, whose blood test reports were negative for HIV, believed that Shrivastava was hiding facts so as to deny him treatment for AIDS, he said.

Shrivastava was rushed to the emergency ward with nearly eighty per cent burns, he said adding a case was registered against Jaiswal, who was yet to be arrested.
