A 50-year-old man killed himself on Thursday by jumping off a multi-storyed building in west Delhi's Janakpuri, infamous for frequent incidents of suicides at its highrises.

Ramesh Kohli, a technical officer at the prestigious National Physical Laboratory in Delhi, was suffering from a long bout of depression and this drove him to death, police said. He, however, left no suicide note.

Kolhi jumped into the narrow gap between the flight of stairs from the fourth floor of the district centre at around 8.30 am. He was found stuck in the narrow gap.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

A resident of Pratap Nagar, he had been undergoing treatment for depression for a long time. He had not been attending office for the last two months.

High-rise buildings in Janakpuri had become infamous after a series of suicides and failed attempts last year.
