National Democratic Alliance leaders will move the Election Commission in their bid to stall any decision in the petition moved by the Congress party to get K Natwar Singh disqualified from Rajya Sabha for proposing the name of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat for the post of President of India.

"We will move the Election Commission of India on Friday," Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj told newsmen at the end of the daily press conference in support of the candidature of Shekhawat.

She earlier objected to the manner in which the Congsress leadership was trying to project the so-called facts of the case.

The Congress party, in its petition, had claimed that a smiliar petition was moved in May this year, but it was rejected on technical grounds.

"Later on they claimed that it was done so in the chamber. If they had filed a similar petition in May, then they should have mentioned it in the first paragraph of their second petition. Abhishek Singhvi as a lawyer should know this. But there is no mention of the earlier petition or its reference," she said.

According to her, Natwar Singh signed as a proposer on June 25 and on June 26 Congress moved the petition before the secretary general of the Rajya Sabha.

"Congress is trying to intimidate Natwar Singh by pressing for disqualification," she said.

Under Paragraph 18 of the Presidential poll, a candidate can be disqualified if in the opinion of the Suppreme Court of India the candidate had used bribe or brought undue influence on the voters.

"There are other grounds under which a candidate can be disqualified and those I would deal with tomorrow," she said.

Swaraj saw nothing wrong in appealing to voters from other parties to vote for Shekhawat.

"There are 4,876 voters and he can appeal to them because a presidential candidate does not belong to a party and he is an independent person. It is the Congress party which says that Pratibha Patil is their candidate," she remarked.

She denied that Trinamool Congress has decided not to support Shekhawat because he does not have secular credentials.
