UP boat mishaps claim 26

With 10 more bodies fished out from the Yamuna river in Kaushambi district on Saturday, the number of deaths in two separate boat mishaps in Uttar Pradesh has risen to 26.

Twelve people died when the boat carrying them capsized in the Ganga river in Mirzapur district on Friday.

In another mishap, 14 people, including six women and five children, were killed when the boat carrying an unspecified number of people capsized in Yamuna river in Kaushambi district.

While four bodies had been fished out on Friday, 10 more were fished out on Saturday, reports said.

Additional Superintendent of Police R P Singh said efforts were on to ascertain the number of passengers in the boat.
