The Third Front United National Progressive Alliance would not have any impact on the coming presidential election, senior Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Jyoti Basu said on Friday.

''I don't think that the UNPA will have any impact on the presidential or any future election,'' Basu said.

To another question, Basu said his party had no truck with the UNPA, comprising eight regional parties.

Basu also said his party's three-day Central Committee meeting beginning June 24 would discuss the present situation arising out of the presidential election.

The CPM and the CPI have already rejected the UNPA's proposal for a second term for President A P J Abdul Kalam.
