President A P J Abdul Kalam on Wednesday said he is ready for a second term in office if there is "certainty about this".

"The President told them [the leaders of the Third Front] during the course of discussion as there is an overwhelming love and affection of people from all sections of society and from all parts of the country I can accept a second term of Presidency provided there is certainty about this," a Rashtrapati Bhavan [Images] spokesman said.

When contacted after the meeting between leaders of the newly-formed United National Progressive Alliance and Kalam, the spokesman said, "The President told them that he was willing to wait for a few days for this certainty."

The President's comments came after the UNPA delegation that included TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav urged him to contest the Presidential election in the interest of the "nation and people".
