A multimillionaire Indian-American couple accused of enslaving and torturing two Indonesian women they had hired as domestic help remained in jail as prosecutors and defence attorneys were yet to resolve certain issues regarding their bail with the next hearing being fixed for Monday.

Varsha and Mahender Sabhnani fired their attorneys and hired new ones but prosecution said new defence lawyers had conflict of interest.

Judge Thomas Pratt had said both prosecution and defence would have to agree to the bail condition and attorneys had submitted a plan which would turn the couple's mansion into $15,000 a day prison.

Under earlier plan, the couple would have paid $5000 a day. The new plan would increase the number of security guards.

Under the conditions for their release on bail, they would have to stay in their mansion and can go out only to meet attorneys, visit doctor or go to temple. They will be under round-the-cloak watch and electronic monitoring.

Sabhnanis would have to pay for the expenditure incurred for providing them security.
