Setting to rest all speculation, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday categorically said her party had no intention to be a part of the United Progressive Alliance or the Union government.

"The BSP has no intention to join the UPA nor there will be any such intention in future," she said in a press release in Lucknow.

"When there is no intention to join the UPA, the question of joining the Union government does not arise," the BSP supremo said.

"I strongly refute reports suggesting that my party is joining the UPA or the Union ministry," she said terming these as baseless and misleading.

On BSP's ties with the UPA, Mayawati said, "It is true that our party has extended outside support to the alliance to keep communal forces at bay. That support still continues."
