PM regrets Khammam firing incident

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh [Images], who is arriving here tonight on a 22-hour visit to the state, has expressed his regret
at the police firing in Khammam district.
 
Dr Singh will arrive by a special flight at 9.40 pm tonight and make a night halt at the Raj Bhavan. He will spend the whole day on Tuesday reviewing the programmes of the state government. He will chair a meeting to review the agricultural scenario in the state at Jubilee Hall from 10 am to 1 pm. He will also chair a meeting to review infrastructure and investment plans of the state from 3 pm to 6 pm at the same venue.

On the eve of his visit, he spoke to Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy over phone and reviewed the situation arising out of the police firing in Khammam District. The chief minister informed him of the steps taken, including the decision to institute a judicial inquiry.
