Unlike A P J Abdul Kalam, who remains a bachelor and had stayed alone in Rashtrapati Bhavan [Images], President Pratibha Patil [Images] has moved in with nine family members.

Accompanied by her husband Devi Singh, son Rajinder and daughter Jyoti, the new President and other family members took over the rooms in the presidential estate.

Her son-in-law and daughter-in-law will also be staying in the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Comptroller of House Hold, in charge of in-house catering for the President, had already set the family kitchen in motion.

This family kitchen has remained closed for last five years as the former President A P J Abdul Kalam always used to have his food from the general kitchen.

Others who moved along with Patil into the sprawling Rashtrapati Bhavan were her four grandchildren and four servants and maids.
