Ajay Katara, a key witness in the Nitish Katara murder case, has complained to the police accusing two student leaders of poisoning him.

Katara gave a letter to the SP of Ghaziabad city Vijay Bhushan on Wednesday night alleging that the two student leaders poisoned him on the intervening night of July 11-12 here, they said.

He alleged that the duo had given him eatables laced with poison when he had gone to the Mohan Nagar Temple to settle a marital dispute with his estranged wife.

Katara claimed he went there after the duo called him to settle the matter.

A probe has already been ordered into the incident, SSP Ghaziabad Deepak Ratan said, adding Katara did not cooperate with the medical staff of Pannalal Shamlal hospital to perform stomach cleaning when he was admitted there and was discharged the same day as doctors described it a case of food poisoning.

Meanwhile, security cover of Ajay Katara has been stepped up, the SSP added. Ajay Katara is not related to Nitish Katara.
