Extradited gangster Abu Salem has filed a complaint before a Special Court against vigilance officers who allegedly demanded bribe from him.

Salem filed a written complaint against vigilance officers Swati Desai and others along with her, before Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act Judge Abhay Thipsay on July 9 alleging that the demand was made on July 4, his lawyer Rashid Ansari told PTI.

The court has issued notices to the Jail Superintendent, Inspector General (Jail) and the officers, Ansari said.

The officers had allegedly come to the Arthur Road Jail for a surprise check on July 4 when they indirectly told Salem that they were travelling long distances and nobody was taking care of them, Ansari said.

Salem has to be produced before Judge Thipsay on July 19, and by then he would receive the copies of the rejoinder by the officials, the lawyer added.
